Community service
ENNC has a long history of helping many organizations and the communities they serve. We will continue this long-standing tradition throughout the next year. The goal of this year's ENNC community service is to encourage ENNC members to get to know each other through working together to help those in need in the Elmhurst community.
Any contribution you can make will make a difference in someone's life and will be greatly appreciated. Get your kids involved!
Great Backyard Bird Count (GBBC) – The 2012 GBBC will take place Friday, February 17, through Monday, February 20.
Please join in for the 15th annual count!The Great Backyard Bird Count is an annual four-day event that engages bird watchers of all ages in counting birds to create a real-time snapshot of where the birds are across the continent. Anyone can participate. You can spend as little as 15 minutes per day!Go to: http://www.birdsource.org/gbbc/whycount.html
Three easy steps:
1.Plan to count birds for at least 15 minutes on one or more days of the count. You can simple look in your backyard and record what you see – or don’t see.
2. Count the greatest number of individuals of each species that you see together at any one time. On the website is a great checklist with links to what each bird species looks like. Great for the kids!
3. When you're finished, enter your results on the website. You'll see a button marked "Enter Your Checklists!" on the website home page beginning on the first day of the count.
